9.27.10 Advertising Market Bounces Back, But Not to Pre-Recessionary Levels, by Danielle Douglas, The Washington Post If the sellout crowd at last week's opening session for Advertising Week D.C. is any indication of the state of the local industry, then things are looking up. The weeklong event drew a steady influx of local marketing, advertising and other media professionals trying to stay apprised of the latest shifts and trends in the industry. And what better time, given the recent jump in ad spending. Click here for the full article.

9.24.10 Google Outlines Mobile Trends at Advertising Week DC, by Eric Shutt, The Huffington Post Google Mobile Ads' Senior Account Executive Elliott Nix presented Google's latest findings in mobile search trends this week at Advertising Week DC. As the world leader in search display and mobile video, Google was eager to share data on mobile search, location-based marketing, and mobile video -- which is promising for both businesses and Google services like Maps, Ads, and YouTube. Click here for the full article.

9.23.10 ADWKDC Wraps Up Day Three with Conversations About…Conversations, Capitol Communicator As a social media marketer, I understand the nature of the web. I understand how to communicate with people with different tools, what information they want to receive across different platforms, and how to encourage valuable conversations. Conversing isn’t unique to online advertising, but online advertising is rapidly changing the way we converse with each other, and our favorite brands. How do we begin to adapt the way we have conversations? Click here for the full article.

9.23.10 Everything You Want to Know About Politics, Association & Non-Profit Bisnow If the midterm elections seem as confusing as the finale of Lost, stay calm. The political insiders at DC Ad Club's Advertising Week tell us who's likely to win, by how much, and what it all means. Plus, the big question about Sarah Palin: Will she admit she was the smoke monster on Lost? Oh, and will she run for president? Click here for the full article.

9.23.10 ADWKDC Attracts Almost 5,000 Session Attendees, Capitol Communicator Almost 5,000 "session attendees" participated in this week’s Advertising Week DC - session attendees are people who signed up for one or more sessions. Two sessions sold out – one at Google and the other was the presentation of the Ad Club’s Silver Medal Award. According to Cary Hatch, chairman of ADWKDC 2010, Advertising Week DC was a “week-long buffet” that ran the gamut from an NBC News panel for political junkies to the domestic premiere of the winners of the 2010 the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, held at USA TODAY. Click here for the full article.

9.22.10 Market Like Mad Men, Association & Non-Profit Bisnow Yesterday, we joined some modern day Mad Men (and women) for DC Ad Club's Advertising Week. Little did we know that DC has the largest concentration of advertising, marketing, and PR professionals in the country. (Sorry, New York!) They proved you don't have to drink like Don Draper to create a successful marketing campaign. Click here for the full article.

9.22.10 Laughlin Presented Silver Medal Award During ADWKDC, Capitol Communicator
The DC Ad Club, in collaboration with the American Advertising Federation (AAF), presented its prestigious Silver Medal Award at a sold-out Wednesday luncheon during Advertising Week 2010 to Doug Laughlin, founder and chairman of LM&O Advertising. It also reflects his commitment to creative excellence, community service and high professional standards. Click here for the full article.

9.21.10 Storytelling at the Heart of ADWKDC Day Two, Capitol Communicator I'm a big fan of incorporating interactive elements into presentations when used properly. Today's use of best interactivity goes to Diane Hessan, pictured above and president & CEO of Communispace, for her use of a movie clip from "Big.” In the clip, Josh Baskin as played by Tom Hanks (a child in a grownups body who works for a toy company) is shown playing with a toy building that turns into a robot. His boss attempts to sell the toy to the executives by listing stats, referring to increase in revenues, and using big industry words. Josh simply replies, "I don't get it."
